Crown Colony

“Crown Colony” was a site specific window installation filling the small storefront and doorway of 266 W. 37th St in Midtown Manhattan, using the grand language of the neoclassical ornamentation that permeated New York's urban landscape in the early twentieth century. Its purpose was to give passersby a new appreciation for New York’s architecture heritage. Assembled from sheets of transparent film in an array of colors, the rich patterns of columns, friezes, and cornices of the crowns of the building and its neighbors formed the elements of its design.
